Church family,Every year during January, we spend 21 days in corporate prayer and fasting. We are always overwhelmed with how God chooses to meet us in a very unique and special way during this time. The Harvest Point 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer Devotional is designed to encourage and strengthen you as you devote this time to walk closer with our Lord. This year, leaders within our local Church have written the devotionals and prayers for each day. We have also attached a Biblical Guide to Fasting and provided a few fasting options. While corporate prayer is a normal part of our Sunday gatherings, we hope that these 21 days of prayer and fasting will prove to be transformational in the lives of those who are seeking Him. 21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 20216How can you join the 21-day experience? 1. Make a personal commitment to fast and pray for the 21 days. "Fasting" means we humbly deny something of the esh to glorify God, enhance our spirit, and strengthen our prayer life.2. Prepare for the fast by reading Psalm 51, 1 Samuel 15, and Isaiah 58. The verses serve as evidence that God is not interested in devout sacrices to Him, rather in our obedience to do His Will in our lives. He wants us to be more like him, which requires us to forget our will and seek His.3. Pause for prayer at 7:00 am. An eective way for our Church to be unied is if we pause for prayer together. We will host a prayer call every morning for 21 days for all who would like to participate. The call number is 563-999-1272.4. Get connected to Harvest Point's social media pages and participate in daily prayers online. The How...The How...

7 Biblical Guide to Fasting FastingThe goal of fasting is to draw closer to God. Spiritual fasting includes setting aside activities and/or reducing your food intake and replacing these activities with the exercise of prayer and preoccupation with spiritual concerns. This also enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God and prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives. Remember, your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and, most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads. What types of fast are there?1. A Normal Fast – There is no food intake for a prescribed period of time, though there may be an intake of liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.* Water-only fasts that last for more than several days need to be done with complete rest and under medical supervision because of the extreme danger of over-toxication, breakdown of vital body tissues, and loss of electrolytes.2. A Partial Fast – In this fast, the diet is limited, though some food is allowed. One example of a partial fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, or bread from your diet and consume water and juice for uids and fruits and vegetables for food. This fast is recommended for our 21-day fast.3. Absolute Fast – There is total abstinence from food and liquids in all forms and is done for a short time.4. Soul Fast – This fast is common for those who may not have a lot of experience fasting from food, who have health issues that prevent them from fasting food, or who wish to refocus certain areas of their life that are out of balance. For instance, someone might select to abstain from using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then choose to carefully bring that element back into their life in an orderly fashion at the conclusion of the fast. DevotionalDevotional

Page 8

21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 20218What type of fast is Harvest Point doing? For 21 days, many will focus on a Partial Fast, specically the Daniel Fast, but you should choose what is most appropriate. Again, you may choose to fast at other times during the year for your own spiritual development. It's very typical to fast a single meal, a whole day, or three days or more. The timing of your fast is not as important as the strength of your focus on Him as you fast. For those who do not have much experience fasting food, who have health issues that prevent them from fasting food, or who wish to refocus certain areas of their life that are out of balance. For instance, someone might select to abstain from using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then choose to carefully bring that element back into their life in an orderly fashion at the conclusion of the fast. Why Are We Doing This?1. Why Fasting? When we use our physical appetites as a constant reminder to pray, read the Bible or meditate, we realize how much we are consumed with outside things. Fasting realigns with God's Will for our lives.2. Why 21 days? In Daniel 10:2-13, Daniel fasted and prayed for 21 days. After his fast, he received a breakthrough, and Daniel received answers to his prayers. These 21 days will be a time for us to reconnect with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. What are some scripture references for fasting?Matthew 6:16-18, Matthew 9:14-15, Luke 18:9-14, Acts 14:23, Nehemiah 9:1-3, Mark 9:29Information about the Daniel Fast. For foods to include during the Daniel Fast, please visit

21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202112Day 1 – The Spiritual Hunger WithinScripture: Psalm 51:10-12By Comfort Ughanze, Women's TeamWhat a precious gift God has given us! He has given us love, protection, and salvation. And all we have to do is believe in Him and His son Jesus. When we rst come to know Jesus and the priceless gift He has given us, we are lled with joy, hope, and a desire for a relationship with Him. But this excitement does not always last. We have all gone through times in our lives when we sin and stray from God. The further we stray, the harder it seems to come back to God's graces. But God doesn't see it that way. God has opened the door for us and is waiting with open arms. All we have to do to restore a perceived strained relationship with God is ask. Spend time with Him and seek Him. Follow David's example in this Psalm and ask for a renewal of your spirit. Ask Him for the hunger and desire to seek Him, and He will answer.

Page 13

13DAY 1 THE SPIRITUAL HUNGER WITHINPRAYERLord God, we praise your name today. Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit within us. Thank you for allowing us to have a relationship with you. Lord, we desire to feel near to you and experience your joy. We confess that we do not always take time to know you and seek you. Lord, today, please cleanse our thoughts as we come to you. Please purify our minds and our heart and allow us to draw near to you. Please create in us a deep yearning to seek you and your kingdom. Please restore the joy in our spirit that only you can provide. We ask this in Jesus's name. Amen.

21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202116Day 2 – Confident, not ComplacentScripture: Luke 5:27-32 By Adam C. McCain, High School LeadMost people are reminded in Luke Chapter 5 of Jesus performing a miracle on paralytic and speaking to the people before seeking out the tax collector Levi (Matthew). He sought Levi out and commanded him to follow him. Pay close attention to this section of the text, "Follow me," Jesus said to him, and Levi got up, left everything, and followed him." (Luke 5:27-28 NIV) Levi knowing the reputation of Jesus, left everything and followed The Son of Man with great zeal. Levi wanted to celebrate being called to follow Christ and breaks bread to introduce Jesus to his friends and associates. Jesus is reaching for the unchurch and those that need to repent. Many people outside looking in wonder way Jesus is spending time with the likes of a tax collector. Jesus is modeling what discipleship looks like. As Christians, we all have crazy energy when we rst accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Unfortunately, many of us get caught in a rut and fall into church tradition. We tend to lose our luster and zeal after and become complacent Christians. Now we are only associating with church members and trying to grow ministries within the Church. We are the Church, and it's our job to go beyond the congregation's four walls and evangelize. In this passage, Jesus models discipleship in his recruitment of Levi. As followers of Jesus Christ, we also need to be carrying out the Great Commission. Jesus responded to the chatter of the Pharisees, stating, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." (Luke 5:31-32) No longer should we look at the unchurched in a negative light, but with compassion, hate the sin, and love the sinner.

Page 17

17DAY 2 CONFIDENT, NOT COMPLACENT PRAYERDear heavenly Father, we come to you in the name of your Son Jesus! I ask that you forgive us any sin we have committed, intentional, or unintentional. Cleanse our hearts and renew our minds. Holy Spirit, I ask that you ignite the eternal re and zeal in us that we adhere to the will of God as we no longer walk in with an attitude of self-righteousness but an attitude of gratitude. God, I ask that you heal the hurt that hinders us from following you whole-heartily. Bring back to our remembrance the passion we once had for sharing the Gospel with everyone receptive to hearing the Good News. No longer will we be complacent Christians, but be condent because you are a child of God called for his purpose.

Day 3 – Courage to Relinquish ControlScripture: Matthew 14:22-27By Elan Fontenot, Women's MinistryFor months my husband and I had discussions of stepping out on faith and running our full business time. It sounded good, but my heart wasn't ready to release control. It seemed like everywhere we turned, there was a billboard, a song, or a sermon series on faith and courage. I was still praying to God for that major sign that this was the next step we needed to take. I wanted to wake up to a message on my mirror from God-like in the old days, in order to make a decision. After spending some time in the word and being still enough to listen, I realized I already had the answer to my prayer.Read Matthew 14:22-27. Jesus sent the disciples to the other side and planned on catching up with them later. The disciples probably thought he was going to show up in another boat, hop on their boat, and they would row along on their merry way. In verses 25-26, Jesus actually shows up walking on water, and they were terried and thought he was a ghost. They were so focused on fear and didn't realize the miracle that was taking place right in their face. Jesus was walking on water to get to them. How often do we come to Jesus seeking His will and direction for our lives, but we ignore all the signs around us of how he is revealing his will? Jesus will show up how he wants and when he wants, and it might be dierent every time. There is no cookie-cutter answer to how he will answer us or show up in our lives. We can't place Jesus in a box. We must have enough courage to trust God by faith and know he is in control of every aspect of our lives. He will never steer us wrong if we are in tune with his word. What has God been tugging on your heart about, and you're waiting on the next "big sign" before you get out of the boat? 21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202120

Page 21

PRAYERFather, we rst want to say thank you! Not for what you do for us, but for who you are. You continue to show us grace when we do not deserve it. Help us to seek you in every decision that we make. Let your will be done and not ours. Lord, even when we don't understand why doors are closed or do not get the answer, we strongly desire to give us strength and understanding as we continue trusting you. We know that you are working it all out in the background. As we seek a deeper relationship with you, strengthen our faith walk because we know you see the bigger picture. Jesus, it is in your name we pray, Amen. 21DAY 3 COURAGE TO RELINQUISH CONTROL

Day 4 – Seeing Tomorrow Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:1-9By Eveline Kirk, Bridge Ministry LeadAs a child, I enjoyed sky gazing. I remember as a little girl, I would lay on our back porch and gaze up into the sky. Looking at the beautiful clouds and the dierent shapes they formed. I often thought that you could see innitely even into the next day if you got high enough. The majestic sky is one of God's masterpieces. I've read that pilots have an aeronautical term they use to describe a perfect sky for ying, "You can see to tomorrow." "Seeing to tomorrow" is an exaggerated statement beyond our comprehension or view. The fact is we struggle to understand what life is bringing today. But even with this limited ability, it is not a reason for hopelessness, yet just the opposite. As believers, we've placed our faith in the God who sees all of our tomorrows and all things perfectly –no clouds or distractions. He sees all of our needs as we face life's challenges. We sometimes have clouds of doubt, confusion, despair, uncertainty, and fear of tomorrow. But remember, God uses clouds as indicators that He is near us, that He is present in our situations. The apostle Paul lived a life knowing God could see clearly into his situations (present and future) with certainty about his needs for tomorrow. Paul encourages us with his words, "We live by faith, not by sight" 2 Corinthians 5:7. When we put our faith in God, He will guide us through each day, even our tomorrows; we need not worry about what will happen. We are assured that God walks with us, and He knows what's ahead, even our unseen tomorrows. Our heavenly Father is all-knowing and capable of handling each day.21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202124

Page 25

PRAYERDear heavenly Father, help us to have condence in You and faith for the things we can't see. Father open our eyes to see through the clouds of doubt, confusion, and even fear. Father, we want to see You, our ever-present God who is in total control of every situation. Help us to stand rm in Your assurance, "You will never leave nor forsake us." Father, you know all about us. You know our heart, and You know we love You; sometimes, even when we have tried to do our best to follow after You, we get tripped up. We become distracted and lose our focus and, in those seasons, start to look to the world for answers. When our condence seems to be waning, we cry out, "strengthen us." Remind us that our condence can be found in You. Your Word tells us, "we are loved" and "we are enough" we've been rescued from the lies of the enemy by Your saving grace and mercy ...which tells "us we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us." It's in Jesus' precious and Holy Name we pray, Amen.25DAY 4 SEEING TOMORROW

Day 5 – Intimacy with God Scripture: John 15: 4-5By Tyrone and Chimere Davis, Children's TeamHave you ever experienced a time when you felt disconnected from God? Have you ever felt that God was far away from you? It's easy to get caught up and pulled away from God or what God has called us to do in the times we live in now.Intimacy with God is the key to overcoming the times when we feel disconnected. So what does intimacy with God look like? The Bible tells us in John 15: 4-5, "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing."Jesus paints the picture of intimacy as a branch being connected to a tree. That connection or binding of the branch to the tree provides a unique relationship in which that specic branch shares with the tree itself. Jesus is that tree, and you are that branch. He wants you to stay connected to Him on your bright and sunny days and in your stormy and rainy days. He wants you to stay connected to Him on your days that are lled with clutter and your days centered around peace. No matter what's going on in your life, Jesus wants you to stay connected to Him.The two main avenues we have to stay connected to Jesus is through reading His word (the Bible) and through Prayer. Making prayer and reading your Bible a priority every day will allow you to know Jesus intimately and have an authentic connection with the "True Vine."21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202128

Page 29

PRAYERFather God, in the name of Jesus, I thank you for this opportunity to grow closer to you in intimacy. I ask that you allow me to not only know about you but to truly "Know You." Lord, Please allow me to remain connected to you in every season of my life and abide in you every day of my life. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen. 29DAY 5 INTIMACY

Day 6 – No Ordinary PurposeScripture: 2 Timothy 2:20,21By Gabrielle Ayers Hynds, Worship LeaderWe were created for a special purpose, and the proof is in the details. The passage compares the noble and good (gold and silver) with the ignoble and common (wood and earth). I remember learning that both gold and silver are precious metals, so let us consider their characteristics. Scientists had concluded that gold is actually from outer space and was brought here when the earth was formed. In the same way, your purpose is way bigger than any ordinary thing found in the world. It comes directly from the Creator. So what about silver? Even though silver is a precious metal, if it encounters sulfur, which is always present in the air, it begins to tarnish and needs some polishing. In the same way, in this world, we will daily encounter things that seek to tarnish us and make us dishonorable, and God tells us to cleanse ourselves of those things. When we pursue righteousness and ee from sin, the Master Creator can use us for his glory and purpose. We then make ourselves available to be put to good use in our local Church and our communities, workplaces, and relationships.21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202132

Page 33

PRAYERHeavenly Father, I acknowledge that you are the MOST HIGH, and the Master Creator. Thank you for being so intentional when you created me. Please forgive me for those things that did not bring you honor. Lord, please help me to be of good use and purpose to your Kingdom. Help me to use my gifts and talents for your glory. Lord, I am available to be used, and I thank you in advance for using me to promote change within my Church and community. In Jesus' name, Amen33DAY 6 NO ORDINARY PURPOSE

Day 7 – A Pray for Our LeadersScripture: Hebrews 13:7 By Gloria Marshall, Small Group Team"Road trip...everybody, get in the car!" We were excited as we piled in to embark on a journey to prove our 10-year-old daughter's champion 4x4 relay team against other Junior Olympian sprinters from across the United States. With a paper map spread out before him, my husband had carefully marked the route that would guide our journey from Missouri City to North Carolina. There were multiple possible routes, but only one was the clear, right choice.Today, many automobiles are equipped with GPS (Global Positioning System). We simply enter an address into the GPS. The GPS provides turn-by-turn navigation, avoids roadblocks and other trac delays, and guides us safely through to our destination. That's the way the other GPS works, too. You know the one... God's Positioning System. God has given us His Holy Spirit to live in us and through us. GPS also includes faithful men and women in our lives, who helped us stay on the right path. This GPS is designed to guide us safely through on our journey Home. But we don't always follow GPS. We know where we want to go, and GPS seems to be leading us away from our destination. Or, the journey is more complicated than we expected, with too many losses or disappointments. We're tempted to turn back and follow our own way.The same thing happened to Jewish believers in our focus verse. They were beginning to experience intense persecution for the cause of Christ, and the weight of that persecution was causing doubt. Some were even contemplating abandoning their new faith in Jesus to go back to Judaism. 21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202136

Page 37

But the writer of Hebrews exhorted them to remember their leaders, to reect on not only what they had been taught but by whom. He wanted them to recall the example they had witnessed in lives well lived. The best path forward would be to follow their leaders' teaching because their leaders had followed GPS all the way Home!Thankfully, GPS is still active today in the hearts of faithful leaders for this generation. May we be faithful followers.PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank you for our leaders. Give them hearts like yours, eyes that seek you, ears ever sensitive to your voice, and hands and feet eager to serve you. May their lives be worthy of imitation. In Jesus' name, Amen.37DAY 7 A PRAY FOR OUR LEADERS

Day 8 – A Prayer of Thanksgiving Scripture:1 Thessalonians 5:16-17By Hattie York, Connect TeamBe joyful always: pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's Will for you in Christ Jesus. To be joyful always is only accomplished when we focus on our Father and not on our circumstances. When we chose to be obedient to his word despite what everyone else is doing, we can truly accomplish a joyful spirit. Praying continually does not mean we are to forsake our obligations; it means to have a personal relationship with our Father in Heaven and to have a prayerful attitude. When we acknowledge our dependence on God, knowing that he is always present with us, we can nd peace, comfort, and praying as easy as breathing. When you have a personal relationship with him, just whispering his name or saying "Thank You, Lord" can bring about a change in how you see things. That is not enough; we must place God as a priority in our lives and dedicate time for him every day to keep that relationship strong. When we give thanks, we acknowledge that "All things work together for the good of those who love him and who are called according to His purpose." No matter what we are going through, we know that there are no surprises to God because he is all-knowing and that he is with us because he said," He would never leave us or forsake us." Another reason to give thanks is that we have a living Savior that died, rose from the dead, and is seated beside our Father, making intercessions on our behalf. 21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202140

Page 41

PRAYERGracious and most heavenly father, we come before you today acknowledging you as Lord and Savior our lives. We realize that it is because of you that we can do "All Things." We ask that you cleanse us and create in us a clean heart and a right spirit. We come this morning thanking you for just being who you are, Our Father, our provider, our comforter, our protector, our condant, our all in all. We thank you for your grace because we know that it is sucient to get us through THIS day. Lord, when we woke up, we could see, hear, feel, smell, touch, walk, and talk. We slept in a bed, with a roof over our head. We thank you for providing us with all of our needs. But with all of that, Lord, we thank you most of all for loving us so much that you came down in the form of man to show us how to live a spirit-lled life. Then you gave your life so that we may have life. Thank you, Lord, for making provisions for us when we fall short of your glory. Thank you, Lord, for being a forgiving God. Lord, if I had ten thousand tongues, it would not be enough to Praise and to glorify your name. Amen.41DAY 8 A PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING ONTROL

Day 9 – Let Us Worship Our GodScripture: Psalms 95 & 150By Chris Lewis, Worship PastorThe writer of Psalms 95 is helping us realize that Worshipping God isn't just in song. Worshiping God is a part of our everyday lives. We can bow, shout, and even kneel in Worship to our God. The writer also lets us know in Psalms 150 that everything that has Breath Praise the Lord! Praise Him with Everything, and Praise Him in Everything! Harvest Point Fellowship Church Praise Ye the Lord!21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202144

21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202148Day 10 – God's Type of ManScripture: 1 Cor. 16:13-14Philip Ughanze, Video Production LeadIf you were to pose this question, "Do you want to be successful?" practically every person you ask will answer with a resounding yes! This is especially true for us men. We are naturally drawn to this idea of success. Whether it be in our careers, during competitive activities or even in our friendly arguments and debates, our proclivity is to be the winner. This fascinating way God has wired us is powerfully special, but if we Christian men were to be honest, we would have to admit that much of our pursuits for "success" aren't rooted in God's will for our lives. Our many strides after achievements are merely status symbols. Temporary displays of self-glory that are swiftly disregarded as soon as a bigger and better goal is conquered. In 1 Cor. 16:13-14, Paul provides Christian men with a formula for God's standard of success. First, he says we must be on the alert. We have to be men that are willing to study and apply the truth of God's word in our lives every day. It is only when we diligently seek after the wisdom and discernment only God can give will we recognize the spiritual dangers and temptations that surround us. Next, Paul tells us, men, to stand rm. The Merriam-Webster dictionary denes this as "to refuse to change a decision or position." In other words, we must value obedience to the truths found in God's word more than everything else the world will tell us. We are called to be men who live out our beliefs, not wavering to the ideals and suggestions the world prescribes for success. He goes on further to say we are to act like men and be strong. Here the apostle is not merely referring to physical strength; instead, he is appealing to the strength of our inner man, which can only be realized through the power of the His Spirit (Eph. 3:16).

Page 49

49DAY 10 GOD'S TYPE Last, yet probably the most vital element of Paul's success formula for men is found in v.14, Let all that you do be done in love. This nal command cuts across every aspect of our lives. We are called to model Christ-like love in our marriages, our parenting, in our career ambitions, and our relationships amongst the body of Christ. It's great news to know we do not have to guess what being a successful man is. My brother, rejoice! We have the winning formula, now let us go out there and put it into practice.PRAYER Thank you, Father, for the perfect gift found in Your holy word. Thank You for the generous grace and mercy available to us every day through Your Son Jesus Christ. Father, we, your sons, desire the type of success that matters to Your kingdom. We need Your help in renewing our hearts and minds that we may truly discern that real success comes from living obediently to Your Word. This world provides so many distractions and false doctrines that are causing us not to become the men You need us to be. Therefore, in Jesus' name, I ask You Father to dismantle every obstacle and deception the enemy has laid before us to fail. Father God, help us experience lasting success in our marriages, parenting, and our service to others, especially in our relationship with You. Strengthen our inner man Lord. May it result in a love experience so abundant that it overows and permeates the world around us, in Jesus' name. Amen.

21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202152Day 11 – The Ultimate Beauty Scripture: Proverbs 31:30 Devotional by: Shannon Scott, Womens Ministry LeadA few weeks ago, I stopped by a local beauty store to pick up a new lip gloss. I had a coupon, and with the lip-gloss already being on sale, I was set to pay pennies for it. Needless to say, I was pretty stoked about my sweet deal. I entered the store, and a sales associate directed me to my prize purchase. He hung around as I selected my color and brand. Once I made my selection, he began to spotlight some inconsistencies in my complexion and recommended products that would "correct" it. (Don't be mad at the associate, he was doing his job) Almost instantly, insecurity arose in me that I didn't know existed. Has this ever happened to you? Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate a awless "beat" face. However, my simple ONE item purchase quickly became so much more. From concealers to correctors to brushes and highlighters, these products promised to make me look perfect. I almost gave in, but then I remembered. There will always be stu that will make us appear more youthful, smaller, attractive, etc., but those things are futile and eeting. God wants our hearts to fear and revere Him. That's a true beauty.

Page 53

53DAY 11 THE ULTIMATE BEAUTYPRAYERHeavenly Father,Help me not to fold to the pressure of today's standard of beauty but let me remember you. Let my hands, thoughts, motives, and ambitions line up to your standard. Lord, let my awe and wonder of your great name and your marvelous works sustain my thoughts when they want to wander. When insecurity arises and tries to paralyze my purpose and progress, remind me of your words. Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Day 12 – A Prayer for our Children and Youth Scripture: Deuteronomy 6: 5-7By Teandra Gordon, PhD, LMFT-S, Family Counseling LeadDeuteronomy 6:5 says, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might," nothing held back. We are to love God with all of our being and allow God to freely heal, mend, and lead every part of our lives. Deuteronomy 6:6 says, "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart." Our heart is the life-giving force of our body, just as God's word is the life-giving force of our lives. Once we cling to God and His word with all our heart, we can teach our children to do the same. Who we are, how we live, and how we love is our children's greatest example. In reference to God's word, Deuteronomy 6:7 goes on to say, "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202156

PRAYERGod, we pray that You would help us to lead our children in Your ways. We pray that You would help us to be an example to our children and that You would give us wisdom on how to lead, love, and direct them. We pray that our children are growing in the knowledge of You and that they have a sincere desire to be all that You have called them to be. We pray that our children are divinely protected and that they love you with all their heart and with all their soul and with all their might. We pray that we are raising a generation of children and youth that would serve you without compromise. In Jesus' name, Amen."57DAY 12 A PRAYER FOR OUR CHILDREN AND YOUTH CONTROL

Day 13 – Finding PurposeScripture: Psalm 18:36; Psalm 37:23By Angel Wilson, Women's TeamLosing my mother at a young age prompted people to encourage me by always saying, "Make your mom proud by following in her footsteps." For years, I thought that I needed to be a full-time Children's Ministry Director, amongst other things that my mom so graciously committed her life of service to. Once I discovered my own God-given purpose in life, I realized that God had anointed me to fulll the assignments that He called me to.Psalm 37:23 states, "The steps of a man are established by the Lord, and He delights in His way." The Lord delights in us following the steps that He has prepared for us, not the steps that He has prepared for others. How will you know what God's perfect will is for your life? The closer you get to the heart of God, the more you will begin to pray the will of God. God created you for a special purpose so that you could live on purpose. Know that you are on assignment, and just as soon as you realize what that divine appointment is, you can begin to live with the peace that comes with knowing your purpose. Even your perceived enemies are on a special assignment to set you on the pathway that pushes you towards your purpose. This is why spiritual intimacy is so important. Spending time with God shapes the heart to know His will. God will never give you a life that makes Him unnecessary. 21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202160

PRAYERMost Graciously Heavenly Father, we thank you that your Son, our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ, was obedient even until the nal hour- His death on the cross. Because of this obedience, Your purpose was fullled through Him. We humbly ask that you strengthen us to walk in our purpose so that we may fulll our God-given destiny on this earth. I pray that you bring conrmation and clarity to anyone unsure of your divine will for their life. Help them to seek after You wholeheartedly. Lord, we pray that You get everything you paid for in us because we were bought with a price. Give us the strength to run this race with endurance. At the end of this race, we long to hear, "Well done." It is in the matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen.61DAY 13 FINDING PURPOSE

Day 14 – Sowing and Reaping Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:7By Joseph (Production Lead) and Veronica Willis (Operations Lead)Paul opens chapter 9 by reminding the Corinth church of a commitment they made to give and not just give, but give bountifully. Paul gently urged them that preparation is the key to fulll any commitment, and that commitment made should be viewed as being made to God, not just to other people. The truth is when we fail to prepare and follow-through, we miss an opportunity to bring praise unto God. In the natural, giving sacricially leaves the giver lacking, but from a spiritual place, it makes room for God to bestow more!!Paul related this truth dierently, Agriculturally. Sowing seeds and reaping a harvest. The correlation of the more seeds you sow, the more harvest you reap. Seeds carry the potential of LIFE and INCREASE, but only planted in the proper way. It's the same with our giving; it holds the potential for LIFE and INCREASE, but only if done in the proper way.The proper way is it rst being purposed in your heart. A Godly giver has a heart for the same things God has a heart for. The Godly giver must not have a "because I have to" attached to their giving. Make sure your giving has a "because I want to" attached. Paul explains that spiritual maturity is placing quality over quantity. What is your motivation? Why are you giving? Does this bring God or my praise?Though money/gifts are what Paul is addressing in chapters 8 & 9, this Godly principle applies to several areas of our life: The sacricial giving of love, time, patience, skills, and spiritual gifts, along with many more areas. For if you truly give from a pure and right place, you can know this God LOVES you.21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202164

Page 65

PRAYERHeavenly Father, as we humbly approach the throne of grace – let us rst thank you for your love, mercy, and faithfulness. Father, help us to understand better what it means to look intently into Your Word and be obedient to it so that we may grow in maturity and become a church body that gives cheerfully, consistently, and generously. The Bible is clear that we are to give cheerfully in all things to advance your Kingdom and that each one must give as he decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion. Throughout Your Word, you tell us to "trust you," but in the area of giving, you ask us to "Test you"… Your Word says that if we "bring our tithes and oerings, you will bless us in such a way that we can't even contain it." We know that we are not to give with expectations of getting something in return but that we give because we LOVE you! Please soften our hearts so that we become cheerful givers. Help us understand that giving is a measure of our faithfulness towards you, and when true faith is present, obedience follows, and your Kingdom advances. Father, you loved us all the way to the cross. May we love you enough to give back to you what is already yours. In the name of Jesus, Amen.65DAY 14 SOWING AND REAPING

Day 15 – Choosing ChristScripture: Timothy 2:3-4.By Reginald Mayes, Senior Adult LeadMatthew 28 commands all Christians to go to all nations and make disciples for Christ. "One thing more, the soul-winner must be a master of the art of prayer. You cannot bring souls to God if you go not to God yourself." [Charles Spurgeon] 1 Timothy 2:3 begins by saying, "This is good and acceptable in the sight of God." The question must be asked: what is good and acceptable? The answer is found in verses 2:1-2, where Paul urges for intercession on behalf of all people in general, and all in authority in particular. Verse 4 reveals God's desire for this intercession. He desires all people to be saved. If we claim the name of Jesus, then we are to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, strength, and our neighbor as ourselves. Our neighbors are anyone who has a need, the greatest need of all people to know the truth. That truth is only found in Jesus Christ. Jesus says of Himself in John 14:6 that He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is also light. All who are lost are in need of light to nd the way. To be lost is have gone astray, missed the way, to be bewildered as to place, direction, or purpose, according to Many in this world are lost. They need a Savior. We are urged, commanded, implored, beseeched to pray for the salvation of all men. How is your prayer life? 21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202168

PRAYERGod of all creation, sovereign Lord of the universe, the great "I Am," we thank you for the privilege of prayer. You have told us that we can come boldly before You at any time and that You will hear us. Lord, help us to align ourselves with Your desires. You have said in Your Word that You desire all men to be saved. You have said that we are to make entreaties and prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings on behalf of all men. We lift the lost up to You on this day and pray that they will be drawn to the light and truth found only in Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen69DAY 15 CHOOSING CHRIST

Day 16 – Committed to the Work of UnityScripture: Eph 4:1-4 By Kory Fontenot, Missions PastorIn a society obsessed with instant gratication, the norm has become what we want, when we want it. And if something doesn't work or t within our desires or plans, it is immediately discarded. This same mindset also transfers to our treatment of people. If a person, or group of people, does not t into the framework of what we would describe as ideal, they too are quickly discarded. However, when we reect on the words of the apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:1-4, we see a call to unity; the act of being in a state of oneness facilitated by the power of the Holy Spirit. What's often overlooked in this call to unity are words like patience, tolerance, and gentleness, words that speak to the type of eort needed in the process. It's a call to actively and continuously work towards unity within the family of faith. When it is so easy to avoid others and write them o because of disagreements, Paul is challenging us to spend time in the vulnerable place, in the uncomfortable places, working towards peace for the sake of unity. Have you considered how your desire for instant gratication has begun to shape your ministry as a believer? How has instant gratication altered your view of who is worthy of your time or the eort it takes to work towards unity? Finally, what areas of your life could you stand to be more patient, tolerant, and gentle for the sake of preserving the unity of the spirit?21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202172

PRAYERLord, we absolutely adore you! You are the giver and sustainer of life. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to be called your children. Thank you for the privilege of being part of the family of faith. As your children, our desire is to please you in every aspect of the life you have gifted us. Please give us the discipline and dedication required to honor Your desires for us as believers. Lord, would you help us to surrender to the Holy Spirit that is working within us. Today, we pray that you would help us to be more patient, tolerant, and gentle with Your children. Please give us a sense of awareness and intentionality when it comes to working towards unity for the sake of preserving the unity of the Spirit.73DAY 16 COMMITTED TO THE WORK OF UNITY

Day 17 – The God of Restoration Scripture Psalms 23:3aBy Lloyd Kirk, Care LeadWhile driving down the street one day, I noticed an old damaged Piece of furniture lying on the side of the road. One of the legs was missing; someone had broken several knobs o the drawers, and There were places where the wood seemed to be split open. A man pulled up behind me, got out, and placed the piece of furniture in his truck lled with several pieces of damaged Goods. A sign on the side of his truck read, "Furniture Restoration Service." It reminded me of my early morning devotion, Psalms 23:3, "He restores my soul." A beautiful picture of what God, our Shepard, does in the life of broken people. We, too, like that old piece of furniture, may have been scared by the pain of past failures, loss of loved ones, and disappointments that we all facets in life. But God, our restorer, never forsakes us, nor discards Us as being worthless. God sees and cares while nding us on the Downward road feeling hopeless and in despair. The good shepherd takes what's left and restores it to its usefulness, all for his glory. 21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202176

Day 18 – Effective PrayersScripture: James 4:3Robert T. Williams, Young Adult LeadJames 4:3 - You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. James is teaching and admonishing the people of God about the correlation between answered prayer requests and ignored prayer requests. He lets us know that in order for our prayers to be answered, we must have proper motives. We must have the right reasoning behind our request. Our desires must be in alignment with Christ Jesus. Our prayers must not be selsh. Prayers that are prompted or requested by the pleasures of the esh will be ignored. 21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202180

Day 19 – The Fruit of the Spirit Scripture: Galatians 5: 22By Patricia Moore, Prayer TeamIn the fth chapter of Galatians, Paul teaches us that I should walk in the spirit that I may not fulll the lust of the esh. The chapter encourages and instructs us on how to walk in the fruit of the Spirit. The rst fruit begins with Love; it reminds me of how God so loved the world that he gave his only son Jesus; love is the willing sacricial of giving oneself for others looking for nothing in return. Joy is the gladness of heart; Peace is tranquility freeing my mind from worry and fear; longsuering is patient, Gentleness is being kind to others even when one doesn't deserve it. Goodness is generosity, and Faith is dependability, depending upon the Holy Spirit's power to help cultivate these values in my life as a believer.21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202184

Day 20 – The Blessing in ConfessingScripture: 1 John 1:9By Will Witherspoon, Prayer Team The epistle of 1 John is written to believers in the early Church to help them live out their lives holy and pleasing before the Lord. In this epistle, it appears that John was interested in the betterment of the members of the Church and the continued strengthening of the community of faith. He is telling us that even though mankind suers from a sin-sick soul in a fallen world, there is abundant grace available to all who are willing to set aside their foolish pride and kneel before the throne of a loving and merciful God. The apostle John writes, "If we confess our sins" He (God) is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Can you think of some sin that is lingering, hidden secretly in the darkest corner of your heart? - Could it be Greed, Lust, Selshness, Gossip, Cheating, Pride, Envy, or Jealousy?- Could it be Unfaithfulness, Bitterness, Theft, Rage, Lying, Fornication, and Adultery? - Maybe it's Homosexuality, Un-Forgiveness, Abuse, Idolatry, or Addiction to Pornography? Maybe you just recognized that you have been unconsciously wrestling with some of these same secret sins. If you believe that you are guiltless, you are probably wrong but, if you are imperfect like me, please join me in this prayer.21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202188

PRAYERFather God, in the matchless name of Jesus, I lift my life to You that You might shine the light of Your lovingkindness upon me. Let the light of Your purifying love reveal to me anything that is aecting my personal walk with You. Lord, I recognize that I am formed from the mere dust of the earth, but You are Mighty Holy and Righteous. Lord, I confess that I have sinned against You and You alone. I now recognize that Your grace, mercy, and forgiveness are the only force able to deliver me from my sin-sick condition. To this day, I lay my soul before Your throne that You might shine the light of Your holiness upon my life and reveal to me any sin-stained area of my life that I have willingly or unwillingly become blind to. Search my heart Lord, please tear down, uproot and cast aside anything in my life that cannot be used for Your gloryFather, I thank You for the Blood of Your son "Jesus Christ" who paid for my soul. Upon this confession of my heart, purify my life that I might be cleansed thoroughly and live for You. Clothe me in the light of Your love so that those around me will witness and marvel at what You have done in my life. I will forever give You the Praise Glory and Honor Due You. I ask all this in Jesus' name; thank You God, and Amen.89DAY 20 THE BLESSING IN CONFESSING

Day 21 – Prayer for Church's Impact on the worldText: Matthew 5:13-16By Scottie Clark, Teaching TeamIn Matthew's chapter 5, Christ gives the Church two distinct positions. He says we are the salt and light of the world. Salt can be used for avor; it was also used medically for cuts as it would sting when applied to a cut, salt was also used as a preservative for food, and it's known to create thirst. On the other hand, He said that we are the light of the world. Light helps you see in the darkness and can be used as a guide to safety. So, what does that mean for the Church? That means we are to be the taste that stays fervent no matter how bad things get in this world. We are to be the sting in the life of people who are spiritually broken. We are to be the ones who preserve the truth of the Gospel. We are to be the example of what it is to thirst for righteousness. We are to be the ones who expose the sins of the darkness and give direction to the lost. We are to be the Church that impacts the World. 21 DAY FASTING AND PRAYER GUIDE 202192

PRAYERFather, we thank you for the opportunity to be a servant of you the Most High. Lord, you called us to be the salt and light of this dark world that we live in, a task that would have ups and downs, which you explained in scripture. Father, my prayer is that you would continue to covers us, encourage us, and lead us as we strive to live out the task that you have given us. Lord helps us be the example that shows the world who you are by the love we have for each other and the resilience to stay faithful to your calling for us. 93DAY 21 PRAYER FOR CHURCH'S IMPACT ON THE WORLD
